Joy

My name is Joy, and I am 42 years old, currently residing and working in Hong Kong. I am a single mother of two daughters, aged 19 and 10. I am the eldest among four siblings, with one sister also working in Hong Kong, and two brothers: one is a family driver in Manila, while the other works as a production technician in Saudi Arabia. I hail from the northern part of Luzon.

I chose to work in Hong Kong due to the higher salary it offers. As a single mother, my earnings in the Philippines were insufficient to meet the needs of my growing children, especially now that my eldest daughter has started her first year at university and my youngest is attending a private elementary school.

Throughout my career, I have worked in three different countries. My first job was in Singapore as a helper for a family of three, including an 18-month-old girl. My responsibilities included cleaning, laundry, ironing, car washing, marketing, and gardening. In Kuwait, I cared for a healthy 80-year-old woman, assisting her with bathing, daily meals, cleaning, cooking, laundry, ironing, and monitoring her blood pressure and blood sugar levels. In Hong Kong, I initially worked for a family in Mid-Levels where I served five people (three boys aged 7, 5, and 2) alongside three other helpers and two drivers. My primary duties involved assisting the parents, but I also provided backup support during the holidays. My responsibilities included cleaning the master bedroom and bathroom, maintaining the cleanliness of the dry kitchen, cleaning the large living room, assisting the chef during dinner, and managing the wet kitchen. I was in charge of marketing, restocking supplies, and overseeing the garden's cleanliness, with a gardener coming in once a week. During dinner services, I served the family and, when guests were present, I took on the role of sommelier during parties. I also prepared lunch for the children, helped them get to school and back during the nanny’s holidays, and assisted with their extracurricular activities. I supported their bathing, feeding, playtime, reading, and homework.

Currently, I work for a family of four, caring for a newborn boy and an 18-month-old girl. There are two helpers in the home, but I am often in charge of the children as they are more fond of me. My duties here include marketing, cleaning, car washing, cooking, ironing, and laundry. I assist the children with bathing, eating, playing, singing nursery rhymes, and reading books, as well as taking them to their activities outside the home.

I hope my future employer will be kind and treat me as a part of their family. I consider myself hardworking, patient, trustworthy, and amiable.

In my spare time, I enjoy cooking, reading books, hiking, island hopping when the weather allows, gardening, and baking. I am looking forward to finding a new employer soon.
