Western/Asian Family Looking for Excellent Cook (Live-in)

Full-Time Live-In Cook Position

Family Setting

British/Filipino family seeking an experienced, full-time live-in cook to join their household staff. Our family consists of:

• Parents (British father, Filipino mother)
• Two young children (ages 3 and 1)
• Existing household staff (driver and childcare helper)

Primary Responsibilities

Meal Planning and Preparation

• Plan and prepare three daily meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) for family and household staff
• Create weekly meal plans incorporating varied cuisines and dietary preferences
• Prepare healthy, balanced meals suitable for young children
• Handle special dietary requirements and preferences
• Prepare snacks and refreshments as required
• Handle special event cooking for family/friend gatherings

Grocery Shopping and Inventory Management

• Plan and conduct regular grocery shopping trips
• Source ingredients from various locations (supermarkets, specialty stores, local markets)
• Select fresh produce, meats, and other ingredients
• Maintain relationships with preferred vendors and suppliers
• Track prices and maintain shopping within budget
• Coordinate with driver for transportation to/from markets when needed
• Handle emergency shopping runs for missing ingredients
• Keep detailed records of purchases and expenses
• Maintain organized storage of dry goods and ingredients
• Monitor expiration dates and food freshness
• Manage kitchen inventory to minimize waste
• Create and maintain shopping lists

Cuisine Expertise

Must be proficient in preparing:

• Western cuisine (British, European, American)
• Asian cuisines: (Chinese, Thai, Indian, Vietnamese, Filipino, etc.)
• Baked goods and desserts
• Healthy cooking methods and alternatives

Kitchen Management

• Maintain kitchen cleanliness and organization
• Ensure proper food storage and handling
• Maintain kitchen equipment and report any issues
• Follow food safety and hygiene standards
• Organize and maintain kitchen storage areas
• Implement food safety and hygiene protocols

Secondary Responsibilities

• Assist with childcare when needed
• Help with light cleaning duties as required
• Support other household staff during busy periods

Professional Experience

• Minimum 3 years experience in professional cooking
• Previous experience in household/family cooking
• Formal culinary training preferred
• Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards
• Understanding of nutrition and healthy cooking practices
